Email message from Marius Kwint dated 11th May 2010

A visually impaired triathlete friend of mine, Chris Goodwin, is aiming for the
10K at the 2012 Paralympics and is hoping to join WADAC because he works in
Winchester and needs to improve his speed-work. He won gold in the European
Paratriathlon Championships in 2009 and was awarded Male Paratriathlete of the
Year by the British Triathlon Federation in the same year.

You may have had a request before for guiding assistance. At present he runs
about 37 minutes for 10k, but ideally needs to achieve about 33 minutes. It's
a tough target, but I believe he has the ability. He would like to attend the
Tuesday track sessions if possible to pick up some of the club buzz and
information, as well as join in the session. He has some peripheral vision and
can just about make out the track lip, but would need to be guided with
hand-held cord.

If any of you would be able to rotate some guiding work, meaning perhaps a
sub-optimal session occasionally, then please let Chris or me know. It's a
rewarding task. Also, feel free to pass this on. My mobile is 07754595968;
Chris' email is .

Thanks and best wishes

Marius

Eastleigh Park Run Every Saturday at 9am there is a NEW Park Run venue at Lakeside Country Park, Eastleigh. This is a free event, you just need to register on the Park Run website (once) and print of your individual bar code, which you must take to the run. Great course, 2 laps of undulating mixed terrain, good training at whatever pace you want to run. Also for the triathletes out there, between 6 - 8:45 there is open water swimming at the same venue. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/Eastleigh/Home.aspxHampshire County XC Championships - Fleming Park , Eastleigh ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Simon Stevens will be doing a hill session at Farley Mount on Tuesday evenings until his mountain leg at the Welsh Castles Relay on 12 and 13 June. He will be at the car park at the junction of Sarum Road and Farley Mount Road at 6.45pm. Others are welcome to join him.

Thanks

Simon

WADAC SociaI Run
I am sending out this email in the hope that we can encourage our many road runners to return to our social runs. We now have a Wednesday eve. , (in the Gallery at River Park Sport Centre meeting at 7.00pm for a 7.10 pm start) and Thusrday eve. (6.45 pm at the track) At present there are just a handful of regulars at both evenings. It would be so good to get together the many runners that the club has . A difficulty of having such small numbers is when we have guests joining us it is quite difficult on occasions to pair them with someone of simillar ability. If you want to find out more please reply to this email which will come to me Happy running Alan Coveney

Have a great week
